Salem Lutheran Church has been in the same location in Hermantown since 1924.
At Salem, there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met.
For those of you who may be new to the area or have left the church for whatever reason in the past and are looking for church home, let us tell you a bit about our church.
First of all, we are a church of sinners. We are not perfect and don’t pretend to be. We sometimes argue and get frustrated and angry with one another. We are sometimes so preoccupied with what is going on in our lives that we are insensitive to the needs of others. Sometimes we get lazy and need to be re-motivated. Sometimes we do awful things of which we are not proud.
Secondly, we are a church of saints. We laugh a lot, pray a lot, and give a lot. We love to worship, whether it is traditional or alternative style. That’s why you see so many cars in our parking lot. We are a warm and friendly group. We are grace oriented and not judgmental . . . we remember we are sinners. We try to live with joy, serve with love and give with a glad and generous heart.
We are ecumenical. We have mnay saints from other denominations with us.
We practice open Communion.
Jesus said, "Come and see." We invite you to “come and see” at Salem Lutheran. If you are a sinner, welcome to the crowd. If you are a saint, we never have enough.
